Digital Communications Fundamentals Part 1

Course Description

In this 2-hour webinar, students will learn about milestones and basics, such as baseband and bandpass signaling, spectral properties and bandwidth, coherent and noncoherent detection, and the properties of orthogonal signaling.

Course Objectives

  • Gain insight into asking the right questions for determining if a communication system will meet the requirements in a cost-effective way
  • Determine the best way to evaluate nearly any digital communication system
  • Understand relationships that drive digital signaling and error-correction design choices

About This Course

The course starts with a checklist of essential concepts characterizing all digital communication systems. This long list, entitled "The Things We Ought to Know about Digital Communications," represents a roadmap to ease the journey into this discipline. When attendees become proficient in these ideas and feel comfortable with the issues, they become adept at applying them – all such systems share the same electrical relationships.
