Universal Design and Adaptive Instruction focuses on the application of principles that guide the design and delivery of instruction and assessment in a variety of learning environments, including regular, special and gifted classrooms.

This course will enable participants to: Analyze the philosophical perspectives that form the basis of UDL. Explain and apply components of UDL within their instructional design. Critically reflect on the principles, practices and resources needed for the successful implementation of UDL.

In this course, students will identify and explore the principles of universal design for learning and differentiated instruction. They will learn strategies to differentiate instruction to accommodate differences in language, culture, learning needs, and exceptionalities within the classroom. The course will also address using adaptive and assistive technology resources to support children’s success in the educational setting.
