Applied Project Management Recognition of Achievement program

Program Description

Are you looking for effective project management skills so that you can complete projects on time and on budget? Georgian College is pleased to bring you the Applied Project Management program. This 14-week online program will provide you with practical and professional skills in all aspects of project management. Participants in this program often work as project managers, supervisors or project co-ordinators and have project work experience that puts the learning into context – no matter what industry they work in.

Course Information

The courses are designed to be taken in sequence to give you the opportunity to progressively work through the entire life cycle of a project – from initiation to closeout.


  • BUSN 0206 Project Initiation and Charter Development (one week)
  • BUSN 0205 Project Planning, Scheduling and Budgeting (five weeks)
  • BUSN 0204 Project Execution and Control (three weeks)
  • BUSN 0203 Project Leadership and Communications (two weeks)
  • BUSN 0201 Project Closing and Continuous Improvement (one week)
  • BUSN 0202 APM Integration and Evaluation (two weeks)

Learning Online

You can access the online courses at any time of day. There is no requirement to be online at a specific time, but you must follow the weekly pace. Each module begins on a Saturday and ends the following Thursday. During this time, participants should expect to spend nine to 12 hours per week on coursework and assignments.

Gold Seal Certification

Georgian College is a Gold Seal Accredited Course Provider with the Canadian Construction Association.


The Applied Project Management program is accredited for the maximum number of credits toward the Gold Seal Certification.

Finance and Fees

  • Are part-time students eligible for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)?
    • As a part-time student, you may be eligible for OSAP funding, depending on the number of courses you take per semester.
  • What is the cost of the program?
    • As a part-time student, you can take one to three courses per semester, paying on a course-by-course basis.

Online Learning

  • What is an OntarioLearn (ODE) course?
    • These courses are offered through OntarioLearn. Visit the OntarioLearn webpage to learn more.
  • OntarioLearn courses are set up as equivalents to the Georgian courses. You can choose to take the ODE courses or the Georgian courses.

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)

  • Can I transfer credits or prior life or work experience to fast track my studies?
    • Previous postsecondary education: If you’ve completed courses, or some or all of a program, at another accredited postsecondary institution, you may be able to transfer all or some of your courses into a related program at Georgian.
    • Relevant work or life experience: If you have relevant work and/or life experience that relates to your program(s) of interest at Georgian, Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is an academic credit option.
