Program description
College Foundations is a one-year Ontario College Certificate designed for students seeking access to a broad range of college programs. As a student in this program, you can determine your academic goals and career pathways by selecting courses from a variety of vocationally specific programs. Additionally, you develop critical thinking skills and apply success strategies to support your academic and career development. As a student in this program, you gain skills and credits for transfer into further vocational post-secondary study or prepare to enter the workplace.
Program Description
The College Foundations program at Georgian is designed to provide a structured yet flexible learning experience that helps students explore their academic and career interests while receiving wraparound support.
- Supportive cohort model – students start and end their week (Mondays and Fridays) with their College Foundations cohort, creating a sense of belonging and connection. These courses focus on career exploration, academic planning, and skill development.
- Customizable learning experience – in the middle of the week (Tuesdays to Thursdays), students engage in courses tailored to their individual interests, allowing them to explore different fields before committing to a specific program.
- Seamless pathway to further studies – by completing optional courses and General Education courses within College Foundations, students reduce their future workload if they transition into a diploma program. Many credits carry forward, making the next step in their academic journey more manageable.
