LLM Advanced Legal Practice (SQE 1 and SQE 2) LLM
Overview
This course is suitable if you're aiming to become a qualified solicitor. It has been carefully designed to refresh your knowledge of core areas of functioning legal knowledge for SQE1 and help prepare you for the skills assessments tested as part of SQE2.
Course Structure
A typical week for you will include weekly two-hour workshops across a variety of SQ1 and SQE 2 subjects. These are interactive and require a high level of preparation; in these workshops, you will develop your written and oral skills. The research project and dissertation are supervised by your tutor.
Compared to an undergraduate course, you will find that this master's requires a higher level of independent work. You will encounter a range of practical supervised and portfolio assessments across the course followed by an extended piece of researched coursework for your Practice Project.

Applicants will typically hold a UK Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and will have achieved a First or Upper Second (2:1) classification.

This LLM course provides those wishing to progress to become solicitors access to the skills and knowledge required to support their preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination at Stage 1 and 2.
During the course, you'll have the opportunity to engage with external partners to develop your networking and professional skills, through events and the Sunderland Student Law Society.
Outside of the course, you can engage in activities such as client interviewing, student negotiation, and mooting and take part in both regional and national competitions.
