Group Psychotherapy Program
The Group Psychotherapy program at Adelphi University is a two-year online postgraduate training program that focuses on relational group psychotherapy. The program is designed to train candidates in becoming thoughtful and passionate practitioners of relational group psychotherapy, with an appreciation, excitement, and deep understanding of relational theory and its creative applications.
Program Details
- The program consists of intensive didactic and experiential learning, clinical supervision, and personal group therapy.
- Graduates of the program will receive a postgraduate certificate in group psychotherapy from Adelphi University and will be eligible to apply for certified group psychotherapist (CGP) certification from the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA).
- The program is offered online, providing flexibility for working professionals.
Weekly Commitment
- 10:00 am – 4:00 pm didactic and experiential coursework (twice per month)
- Leading a group psychotherapy on Long Island
- Group supervision
- Individual supervision
- Personal group psychotherapy
Application Requirements
- Online application form and $60 fee
- Two letters of recommendation from an academic or professional source
- Personal essay (500 words)
- All official college/university transcripts
- Résumé/CV
- Course-by-course evaluation: All graduate applicants with undergraduate-level work completed outside of the United States will be required to send a course-by-course evaluation of their academic work prepared by a NACES member organization.
