Program Overview


Biosystems Engineering (BSEN) Program

The Biosystems Engineering (BSEN) program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the principles and practices of biosystems engineering. The program is structured to meet the needs of students who wish to pursue a career in this field.


Program Requirements

The BSEN program requires a total of 126 hours of coursework, which includes:


  • Freshman year:
    • Fall: CHEM 1030, CHEM 1031, ENGR 1100, MATH 1610, HIST 1210, ENGL 1100
    • Spring: PHYS 1600, ENGL 1120, ENGR 1110, MATH 1620, COMP 1220
  • Sophomore year:
    • Fall: BIOL 1020, BIOL 1021, ENGR 2010, ENGR 2050, MATH 2630, BSEN 2210
    • Spring: BIOL 1030, BIOL 1031, ENGR 2070, ENGR 2350, MATH 2650, BSEN 2240
  • Junior year:

University Core Curriculum Requirements

The AU Bulletin lists the University Core Curriculum requirements for students in the College of Engineering. Students must complete a sequence in either Literature or History. Biosystems Engineering students should complete the World History or Technology and Civilization Course sequence to ensure that all Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are met by the time of graduation.
