Program Overview
The Interactive Media and Animation program trains students to become multimedia specialists in fields such as interface design, web development, game design, animation, and virtual reality. The program emphasizes both theoretical and practical aspects of multimedia design and development, preparing students for careers in various multimedia industries. Degree Overview:
The Interactive Media and Animation program aims to train students to become multimedia specialists in various fields, including interface design, web design and development, game design and development, animation, video and audio specialists, project management, and virtual and augmented reality development. The program focuses on both theoretical and practical aspects of multimedia design and development, emphasizing the concepts and techniques necessary for creating advanced multimedia applications.
Objectives:
- Introduce students to the theoretical concepts and implications of all elements involved in contemporary multimedia.
- Provide an environment for students to become familiar with the theory and practice of multimedia project development.
- Train students in using contemporary software for creating multimedia elements and completing multimedia projects.
- Introduce students to the creative potential of computers and computing in the context of art and design.
- Encourage students to examine and critically evaluate current trends in multimedia and suggest/apply improved techniques in creating innovative multimedia applications.
Outline:
The program consists of eight semesters, with each semester focusing on specific areas of multimedia design and development.
Semester 1:
- Fundamentals of Drawing: Introduces the basic principles of drawing and sketching.
- Fundamentals of 2D Design: Examines the fundamentals of 2D design, including composition, color theory, and typography.
- Introduction to Multimedia: Provides an overview of the field of multimedia, including its history, principles, and applications.
- English Composition: Develops students' writing and communication skills.
Semester 2:
- Introduction to Typography: Explores the history and principles of typography, including font selection, layout, and hierarchy.
- Interactive Design for Social Media: Introduces the principles of designing for social media platforms.

Other:
The program is offered full-time or part-time, with a minimum of 168 ECTS credits required for graduation. Students are expected to submit a portfolio of art/design/multimedia work during an interview. The program also offers a variety of electives and minor options.
Entry Requirements:
EU Home Students:
- Minimum Admission Requirement: A recognized High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or equivalent internationally recognized qualification(s).
- Students with a lower HSLC grade than 7.5/10 or 15/20 or equivalent depending on the grading system of the country issuing the HSLC are provided with extra academic guidance and monitoring during the first year of their studies.
- In addition to the above, all applicants are expected to submit a portfolio of art/design/multimedia, ideally in both electronic and physical form. Portfolios will be submitted by the applicant during an online interview, scheduled by the University of Nicosia and will be assessed by the Department's admissions panel.
International Overseas Students
Follow the same requirements as EU Home Students, with the additional requirement of demonstrating English Language Proficiency.

- KPG (The Greek Foreign Language Examinations for the State Certificate of Language Proficiency): Level B2 and above

- IEB Advances Programme English: Pass
- Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE): Pass
- Michigan Language Assessment by: Cambridge Assessment English & University of Michigan: 650 average score for ALL skills and above Students who do not possess any of the qualifications or stipulated grades listed above and hold IELTS with 4.5 and above, will be required to take UNIC’s NEPTON English Placement Test (with no charge) and will receive English Language support classes.
