About Program
Program Overview
This Special FX Make-up program, designed for aspiring artists aged 12-15, provides a comprehensive introduction to creative make-up techniques. Led by an experienced tutor, students will learn to design and apply make-up, including casualty and special effects, fostering their artistic skills, communication abilities, and confidence in applying make-up to others. The program culminates in a certificate upon completion, providing a foundation for further exploration in the field.

What you will learn:
- An introduction to creative make-up
- Designing and applying creative make-up, using wigs and a variety of special effects
- Casualty make-up to include black eyes, slit lips, bruises and blisters
- Special effect and prosthetic make-up to include severed fingers, burns, and applying a prosthetic nose
- Creative make-up to include monster creation
Structure:
- Eight Saturdays in the Autumn term (2024)
- No sessions on 5 October or 2 November due to AUB Open Days
- Classes run from 09.30-12.30
Teaching:
- Delivered in state-of-the-art make-up studios
- Led by experienced tutor Julia Carter with over ten years of experience
- Practical and hands-on learning experience
- Opportunity to work on each other
- Develop communication skills
- Learn about health and safety guidance
- Gain confidence in applying make-up to another person

- Who is this course for?
No prior experience is required.
- What to bring to class?
Bring drinks and snacks for the break time and duration of the class. Phones, tablets, and other valuables are not encouraged.
- Cost: £239. All course materials and resources are provided.
