This Saturday Art School course at Arts University Bournemouth introduces young artists aged 12-15 to the world of glass art. Students will learn safe use of materials, explore contemporary and traditional design elements, and experiment with various techniques. This course aims to provide young artists aged 12-15 with the unique opportunity to explore the world of glass art. The course is designed to be both practical and introductory, providing students with the opportunity to learn new skills and experiment with different techniques.


Summary

Students will be given the opportunity to work with a variety of glass objects, including pre-prepared models and artefacts. They will learn how to use specialist painting techniques to achieve different effects and learn distinctive application methods. The course is designed to be safe and inclusive, fostering creativity and encouraging students to experiment and explore their ideas. Students will also learn about the sustainability of glass art, including the materials and their environmental impact.


What your young artist will learn

  • Undertake contemporary glass art projects
  • Learn about safe use of materials and properties
  • Explore both contemporary and traditional design elements
  • Introduction to materials and properties of glass art
  • Experiment with a range of design approaches
  • Repeat pattern, scale, line and texture onto glass
  • Use a range of mediums to create a mixed media panel, including glass, metal, acrylic, and more
  • Explore the sustainability of glass art, including learning about the materials and their environmental impact
  • Explore their own style and artistic flair
  • Be able to continue creating glass art pieces once the course has completed
