General Requirements:

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Two letters of recommendation (professional and/or academic)
  • Personal essay
  • Paid or volunteer experience in human services preferred
  • Official transcripts from all prior institutions and proof of bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • TOEFL score of 585 or IELTS required for international candidates if in the United States for less than three years

Interview:

An interview may also be required at the discretion of the School of Social Work's Admissions Committee.

  • Additional information is required from applicants with degrees from non-native English-speaking countries as well as an official TOEFL score of 80 or higher OR IELTS score of 6.5 or higher.

Advanced Standing Program Applicants:

  • An undergraduate degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)–accredited social work program within the past five years
  • One letter of recommendation from your faculty field liaison or field instructor
