Program Overview

The Esthetician-Nail Technician Certificate of Achievement program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic provides hands-on training in nail care techniques, including manicuring, pedicuring, nail art, and artificial nail application. Students also develop salon management, communication, and customer service skills through practical experience in the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Salon & Spa. Degree Overview

Overview:

This program offers knowledge and skill development in working with and enhancing nails. You will also develop salon management, communication, and customer service skills.

Objectives:

• Develop knowledge and skills in nail care techniques.
• Enhance skills in applying artificial nails and nail art.
• Acquire skills in customer service, communication, and salon management.

Program Description:

• Delivery: On-campus in the evenings.
• Location: Prince Albert, Saskatoon.
• Length: 14 weeks.
• Start Date: September (Prince Albert), January (Prince Albert and Saskatoon).

• BUS-010: Nail Salon Operations

Module Descriptions:

BUS-010: Nail Salon Operations

This course provides an understanding of operating a nail salon and employer expectations. Topics covered include legal and labor regulations, financing, nail salon design, inventory and equipment management, and personality theories in salon situations. This course focuses on artificial nail services, teaching various types of artificial nail extensions, nail art, maintenance, and repair techniques. This course covers the anatomy of hands and feet, hand and nail care, diseases and disorders, and specialized techniques and treatments for manicures and pedicures.

PRAC-010: Customer Service Practicum 1 & PRAC-011: Customer Service Practicum 2

These courses provide practical experience in nail salon duties. Students practice under instructor supervision, focusing on providing quality customer service and refining their skills to industry standards.

SANT-010: Sanitation, Safety and Hygiene for Nail Technicians

This course focuses on safety aspects relevant to the nail salon environment, personal health, and sanitation. It covers bacteriology, fire safety, health risks, and diseases.
