Entry Requirements:


Single Subject Credential:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 overall and 3.0 in the subject area for single subject candidates.
  • Passing score on the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
  • Verification of Subject Matter Competence (SMC) as defined by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
  • Completion of a state-approved program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the major for single subject candidates or passing the CSET (California Subject Examinations for Teachers).
  • Passing score of 3 or higher on the writing competency assessment (ADD).
  • Acceptance by the Teacher Education faculty.
  • Completion of all core courses, except for SPED 457 which can be taken concurrently with EDUC 478.
  • Certificate of Clearance or equivalent fingerprint clearance.
