Overview
This course is designed for lecturers, researchers, and administrative staff in academic sectors who wish to enhance their general formal writing and presentation skills. The course aims to provide participants with the knowledge to utilize AI tools in educational settings, outlining potential limitations, challenges, and ethical considerations.

Course Objectives
The aims and objectives of this course are for participants to gain the knowledge to utilize AI tools in educational settings. By the end of the course, participants will have developed the requisite skills to engage successfully in a range of academic settings, with particular emphasis on developing practical skills with AI tools to formally address workplace challenges.
Course Outline
Day 1: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
- Welcome and Introductions, Individual expectations and setting objectives for the week
- History of AI from early predictions to roadblocks, decades of waiting and a recent boom
- Introduction to machine learning principles that underpin AI
- State of the art in AI for all fields
- Cross disciplinary considerations when using AI tools in the workplace
- Excel with AI support
Day 2: The Impact of AI in the Workplace
- Making academic documents with AI
- Graphics design and asset generation with AI
Day 3: AI Tools for Documents and Presentations
- Quantitative vs qualitative impact in the workplace with AI
- Structured approaches to document creation assisted with AI
- Fine tuning queries in English to get the most value with AI tools
- AI assisted presentations
Day 4: Maximising Qualitative Impact in the Workplace
- Going beyond words to use Generative AI to produce images for the workplace
- Rules of thumb to source credible material with AI
- AI as an assisting tool for neurodivergent users, a milestone for diversity in the workplace
- Societal response to AI and detecting AI generated content
Day 5: Professional Presentation Workshop
- This final-day workshop will provide participants with a holistic and practical toolkit to effectively manage presenting a new topic outside of their current knowledgebase
- This session serves to exemplify the ease of upskilling on a topic and presenting with AI assistance
- Participants will complete a stylistically and register-appropriate written assignment and presentation and receive individual feedback focusing on style, register, and overall effectiveness
- Course conclusion with tips for using AI to assist in the workplace

- How to identify processes in one’s own workflow that can be enhanced with AI
- Identifying AI tools that can meet a minimum standard of trust
- Understanding how culture, boarders, language and societal differences can impact applications of AI
- Using AI for qualitative improvement in the workplace to foster diversity and understanding
- Preparing documents and presentations with support from AI tools

I'm about to finish my Bachelor of Business course. I've very impressed so far with the organization and all the support during the pandemic. It's not easy to study online, but the lectures are great! I've got some issues with my attendance like 2 or 3 times because of Zoom maybe... but I emailed them and the problem was solved really fast. :) I recommend Dorset College.
