Managing Organisational Behaviour (Taster Course)
Overview
This module is designed to provide learners with a clear insight into the behaviours within an organisation.
The importance of having an understanding of organisational behaviour is vital from both the individual and management’s perspective. This module focuses on the interrelationship between the individual, the group dynamic, and the internal environment within an organisation.
This course focuses on the development of professional skills; while it does not sit on the national framework, the module is drawn from Griffith College’s suite of QQI-validated degree programmes.
Why study Organisational Behaviour at Griffith College?
This course is a singular module taken from the Diploma in Business Management and runs one evening a week for 12 weeks.
On successful completion of this module, learners should be able to:
- Evaluate the organisational factors that contribute to success within the business sector.
- Discuss and evaluate the main theories of motivation and their application in the current business environment.
- Assess the importance of good structure for organisational performance.
- Explain the importance of culture and diversity within the business environment.

English Language If English is not your native language, you must show that your English level is of a suitable standard. For further information please contact a member of the Admissions Team.
Griffith College is accepting the online Duolingo English Test (DET) as valid proof of English proficiency.

- Old Leaving Cert (Pre 2017): Two Honours Level, Grade C3s or above and four Ordinary Level D3s (subjects to include Maths and a language, English, Irish or another language) or equivalent exam taken.
- New Leaving Cert: 2 H5 and 4 O6/H7 grades, to include Maths and a language (English, Irish or another language).
Applicants over 23 years of age (Mature students):
If you are 23 years or over from the 1st January of this year, you can apply for this course directly using the College’s online application form.

- Work Groups and Teams in Organisations: Examines the meaning and importance of groups and teams, role relationships, group values, and norms.
- Work Motivation and Job Satisfaction: Explores the relationship between needs and expectations at work and various theories of motivation, job satisfaction concepts, and its influencing factors.
- Diversity and Individual Differences: Addresses the concept of diversity management, personality types and their impact within organizations.

For Undergraduate Studies:
- Leaving Certificate (Pre-2017): Two H5 grades and four O6/H7 grades, including Maths and a language (English, Irish, or another language).
- Leaving Certificate (2017-present): 50 CAO points with a minimum grade of O6/H7 in two subjects and a minimum grade of O4/H6 in four other subjects.
For Mature Students (over 23 years):
- A minimum of one year of relevant work experience or full-time studies, demonstrated through a documented personal statement and/or CV. You can meet this requirement with an IELTS score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band), or a TOEFL score of 80 (with a minimum of 19 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking, and 18 in writing).
- Interview: You may be required to attend an interview as part of the application process.
Language Proficiency Requirements
- Non-native English speakers: Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English by meeting one of the following requirements:
- A score of 6.0 or higher (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band) on the IELTS exam.
- A score of 80 or higher (with a minimum of 19 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking, and 18 in writing) on the TOEFL exam.
- A score of 55 or higher on the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE).
- Completion of an English language proficiency course approved by Griffith College.
- The specific entry requirements may vary depending on your chosen program of study.
