Program Description:

The Spanish Language and Culture program at Lewis University is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the Spanish language and culture. The program offers a variety of courses that cover a wide range of topics, including grammar, composition, conversation, literature, culture, and linguistics. Students also have the opportunity to study abroad in a Spanish-speaking country to gain real-world experience. The program is open to all students, regardless of their prior experience with Spanish. Students who have no prior experience will need to take two introductory Spanish courses before beginning the major. Students who have some prior experience may be able to place out of one or both of these courses. The Spanish Language and Culture program is housed in the College of Humanities, Fine Arts, and Communications. The program is chaired by Dr. Maria Hernandez, who is a native speaker of Spanish and has extensive experience teaching Spanish as a second language.

The Spanish Language and Culture program at Lewis University consists of 30 credit hours of coursework, including 18 credit hours of core courses and 12 credit hours of elective courses.
