Program Overview

Istituto Marangoni's Fashion Drawing Short Course is a 3-week program that teaches participants the fundamentals of fashion illustration, including technical drawing, creative drawing, and the use of digital tools like Photoshop and In-Design. The course also covers fashion trends, materials, and the basics of fashion marketing. Participants will develop their visual communication skills and gain a strong understanding of the fashion industry.

• The fashion figure: proportions, characteristics, sketching ideas
• Rendering, understanding form, shape, and the natural body using various media
• History of fashion illustration over the last century
• Importance of materials
• Fashion trends
• Basic tools of illustration using Photoshop
• Week 2:
• Technical drawing: fundamentals of a precise and detailed technical flat
• Creative drawing: experimental drawing using all media, capturing essence and mood
• Fabric & material competence
• Importance of the contemporary cultural context
• Week 3:
• New media, Photoshop, and In-Design fabric rendering
• Create a series of fashion illustrations for a collection or campaign
• Apply new media to color and render illustrations for a global market
• Visual communication skills
• Fashion marketing and business basics
• Fashion system complexity

Other:

• Participants can learn how to communicate ideas through drawing in relation to their future careers.
• They will learn how to use various media and tools for illustration, including Photoshop and In-Design.
• They will gain a strong understanding of fabric and materials.
• They will develop their visual communication skills and learn the basics of fashion marketing.
