Program Overview


The Professional Sales Micro-Credential at Genesee Community College is a one-semester program that equips students with essential sales skills, including persuasion techniques, customer service management, and business communications. Delivered in-person or online, the program is taught by experienced instructors and allows students to apply their skills to real-world challenges. Graduates can pursue entry-level sales positions or advance their careers in any industry.

Outline:

  • This program comprises three courses:
  • Professional Sales (BUS201): Focuses on applying sales principles, integrating human relations and psychology concepts in persuasion techniques.
  • Develop powerful sales presentations, review ethical selling practices, and explore self-management.
  • Customer Service Management (BUS108): Explores the fundamental elements of exceptional customer service and their impact on businesses in a competitive global economy.
  • Examine customer service philosophies, skills, innovations, and technologies used to anticipate and manage customer needs while retaining customers and increasing revenue.
  • Business Communications (BUS106): Investigates integrated communication skills essential for the modern-day workplace.
  • Covers the purposes, strategies, and processes of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and presenting within businesses. Emphasizes verbal and written language arts in professional communication.
  • Delivery Method: Offered in-person or in a HyFlex (hybrid flexible) online format.
  • Duration: Can be completed in one semester.

Teaching:

  • Courses can be delivered in-person or through HyFlex online learning.
  • Students apply learned skills to real jobs and identify and research a real challenge faced by their employer, developing a comprehensive solution and implementation plan.

Students can apply all Micro-Credential credits towards completing an Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration or other suitable programs at GCC. This program focuses on equipping students with essential and practical business skills beyond standard sales.
