This Pre-University Summer School course in Science, Technology, and Engineering offers high-achieving high school students an immersive experience in the intersection of these fields. This course delves into the intersection of science, technology, and engineering within the context of modern societal challenges. Led by academics from King's School of Biomedical Engineering, students will explore topics such as:

  • Microprocessors and digital logic
  • Robotics
  • The nervous system and artificial intelligence
  • Medical imaging
  • 3D printing
  • Computer aided design
  • The course employs a combination of lectures, seminars, discussion groups, and practical lab work to provide an immersive and inspiring experience. Team-based problem-solving activities prepare students for future studies.

By the end of the module, you will have:

  • Experienced a variety of learning activities typical of first-year undergraduate study.
  • Built relevant knowledge to support future study in the fields of Science, Technology, and Engineering.
  • Carried out independent research and produced a structured and well-supported response to an assignment brief.
  • Worked collaboratively in diverse groups to produce a presentation.

The King's College London Pre-University Summer School is open to high-achieving students who are about to start or are enrolled in their final two years of high school and are typically aged 16 and 17. Students must be aged 16 before the start date of their course. The course is taught on-campus between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Friday.
