Admission Requirements
Entry Requirements:
EU Home Students:
- GCSEs: Applicants require at least 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths. Some specific courses may have additional GCSE requirements, so checking individual program details is crucial.
- A-levels: Typically, applicants need 3 A-levels, including specific subjects depending on the chosen course. For instance, the English Language and Linguistics course mandates A-level English Literature or Language, while Physics requires A-level Physics or Maths.
- BSc: For individuals already holding a science degree, some King's undergraduate courses may offer direct entry into the second year of study, thereby earning a BSc after two further years.
International Overseas Students (Outside the EU):
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: Applicants should possess an IB of 32-34 points, with at least five subjects at Higher Level 6 or 7. Some programs might have specific IB subject requirements.
- GCE A-levels: Similar to EU students, international applicants typically require 3 A-levels, including specific subjects for certain programs. The entry requirements for King's undergraduate courses can be found in the relevant course descriptions.
- GCE AS Levels: Applicants with GCE AS qualifications must achieve at least BBB or equivalent to satisfy entry requirements in some courses.
- Advanced Placement: Students with strong Advanced Placement (AP) scores may also be eligible for consideration.
Additional Notes
- International applicants are often required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. This is discussed further in the "Language Proficiency Requirements" section below.
- IELTS: Minimum overall score of 6.5, with no sub-score lower than 6.0. Some courses may require higher scores (e.g., Law: 7.0 overall, no sub-score below 6.5)
- Pearson PTE Academic: Minimum total score of 61, with no component score below 54. Specific courses may specify higher requirements.
- Cambridge Advanced: Minimum overall grade of C, with minimum scores of 180 in all skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking)
- Cambridge Proficiency: Minimum grade of C.
- TOEFL iBT: Minimum overall score of 90, with no section below 21.
- Requirements vary depending on the program.
Additional Notes:
- Applicants who have completed their undergraduate degree in English are generally exempt from these language requirements.
