The Army Higher Education Pathway (AHEP) is a fully funded program that enhances career success for Army Officers. It offers two pathways: a BSc for non-graduates and an MSc for graduates and Majors. AHEP equips graduates with leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and skills relevant for both military and civilian leadership positions.

The Army Higher Education Pathway (AHEP) is a program offered in partnership with Henley Business School and the University of Reading's School of Politics, Economics and International Relations (SPEIR).


Objectives:

  • Provide a "brains-based" approach to learning.

Program Description:

The AHEP offers two pathways:

  • BSc Leadership and Strategic Studies: For non-graduates at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS).
  • MSc Leadership and Strategic Studies: For selected graduates and Majors starting ICSC(L).

BSc Pathway (Non-Graduates):

  • Starts at the RMAS Commissioning Course and continues during early career.
  • Credits from RMAS training count towards the degree.

MSc Pathway (Graduates and Majors):

  • Open to selected individuals with a previous Bachelor's degree (Graduates) or Majors with 5 years' leadership experience (Majors).
  • MSc for graduates includes modules on leadership concepts, communication skills, and research methods.
  • MSc Exec for Majors includes advanced leadership and coaching, British Foreign Policy, and conducting robust research.

Assessment:

  • No formal exams.
  • Assessment through assignments and dissertations.
  • Research projects based on work-related issues.

Teaching:

  • Online learning through Canvas VLE (accessible on various devices).
  • Dedicated AHEP Portal for registration, progress review, and submission.
  • Professional Leadership Portfolio (PLP) for capturing learning experiences and reflections.

Careers:

Other:

  • International officers can pursue a Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) or Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) upon completing the RMAS Commissioning Course.

PG Cert/MSc:

  • Bachelor's Degree at 2:2 level or above.

MSc Exec:

  • 5 years leadership experience within the Armed Forces.
