Degree Overview:

• This intensive one-year program allows medical students to obtain an additional BSc degree in Neuroscience.

Outline:

• The program begins after the second, third, or fourth years of the MBBS, BDS, or BVetMed programs.
• Year 1 modules include:
• Brain and Mind: Disorders of Supraspinal Systems
• Core Laboratory Methods
• Disconnected Pathways: Disorders of Spinal Systems
• Experimental Neuropathology
• Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine
• Neuroscience Research Project
• All modules are subject to change.

Assessment:

• A combination of in-course assignments and essay examinations is used to assess student learning.
• The Neuroscience Research Project is primarily assessed through a written thesis.

Teaching:

• Students receive approximately 8-10 hours of weekly contact time in Semester A, with the rest dedicated to independent study.
• Semester B includes the Research Project module with 2 hours of weekly contact time and 6-10 hours of independent study.
