Program Overview


Graduate Diploma in Aviation – GDipAv

The Graduate Diploma in Aviation is a qualification that allows students to build on their previous degree or aviation industry experience. This qualification acknowledges and recognizes that having significant aviation experience has real value.


Overview

This 8-course qualification offers two options: Aviation Studies and Flight Instruction. The Aviation Studies option is available part-time and/or by distance, making it suitable for those who may be working while studying. The Flight Instruction option is available full-time, by selection only.


Topics Covered

The Graduate Diploma in Aviation covers topics such as:


  • Aviation human factors
  • Aviation security issues
  • Airline strategic management
  • Legal issues in aviation

Entry Requirements

To enter the Graduate Diploma in Aviation, students must:


  • Have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent
  • Have demonstrated equivalent practical, professional, and/or scholarly experience
  • Meet the prerequisite requirements for the 200-level courses

Specific Requirements

For the Flight Instruction endorsement, students must:


  • Hold a Class One medical certificate recognized by the CAA NZ and meet appropriate pilot aptitude selection criteria
  • Hold a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) - Aeroplane (A)
  • Hold an Instrument Rating (IR)

English Language Requirements

To study this qualification, students must meet Massey University's English language standards.

Structure of the Graduate Diploma in Aviation

The qualification consists of 120 credits, with students taking eight 15-credit courses. Students will not be required to pass any 100-level prerequisite courses for the 200-level courses in the schedule.
