  • These must include 14 credits in each of three approved subjects.
  • You cannot use literacy or numeracy credits towards the required 60 credits.

University Entrance (UE):

  • You can meet the UE requirement in several ways, including:
  • Completing NCEA Level 3 with a minimum of 80 credits at Level 3 and an additional 10 credits at Level 2

International Students (Non-EU and Non-NZ citizens)

Academic qualifications:

  • You must have completed an internationally recognized qualification equivalent to NCEA Level 2.
  • The specific requirements will vary depending on the country where you completed your qualifications.

English language proficiency:

  • For most international students, demonstrating English language proficiency is crucial.
  • You can do this by obtaining a minimum score on an approved English language test such as:
  • IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5
  • TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 80 with no sub-score lower than 19

Language Proficiency Requirements

For both domestic and international students, English language proficiency is crucial for successfully participating in the program. While NCEA Level 2 qualifications often demonstrate sufficient English proficiency for domestic students, international students require additional proof. As mentioned above, international students can prove their language proficiency through an approved English language test. It distinguishes between domestic and international students and provides relevant details for each category.
