Program Overview

The Maritime Operations - Watchkeeper Deck <500GT Near Coastal program at NMIT prepares students for careers as watchkeepers on near-coastal vessels. The program includes all the short courses required to obtain the Maritime New Zealand licence for Watchkeeper Deck 500t Near Coastal. Graduates will be qualified to work on vessels operating within the coastal and offshore limits (currently up to 200 nautical miles off the NZ coast).
