Degree Overview:

This course, focusing on applying core educational effectiveness concepts, is only available in the online format. It is the third course in the Education concentration for the Master of Science in Health Professions Education. Participants who complete this course may be eligible to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam.

Outline:

• Topics: Course content focuses on various assessment strategies, including individual assessment within group projects, insights from cognitive science, cultural considerations, and self-assessment.
Participants will learn to select appropriate assessment methods based on instructional context, modality, objectives, and hidden curriculum considerations. Literature will be used to inform assessment choices, and various assessment techniques will be applied to individual teaching projects.
• Structure: The course is offered online and runs from May 13th to August 19th, 2024.
Participants will learn how to select the most appropriate assessment method based on the learning objectives and context. They will gain experience in designing and implementing assessments, as well as in interpreting and using assessment results.
