Degree Overview:

  • This is a one-year program equivalent to the first year of a degree, providing a solid foundation in accounting and finance concepts.
  • 92% of university's graduates reported feeling supported in their learning (NSS survey 2023).
  • A 2022 student survey of UK students also identified 10 "critical skills' needed in graduates for future professional success.

Objectives:

  • Develop skills in financial reporting and industry-standard software.
  • Understand core Accounting and Finance topics to reach your career.
  • Achieve exemptions from accounting bodies such as ICAEW, ICAEW, CIMA , IFA AAT.

Teaching:

  • Focuses on self-reflection, awareness, and professional employability (as part of Character and Personal Development program).
  • Employ industry-leading expertise, mentoring and placement opportunities throughout 1-year of the program.

Overall

  • 24 weeks of full-time study is divided into 4 6-week blocks with one subject focused module covered per unit.
  • No traditional end-of-year exams (except for exams needed for accreditation exemptions required).

Module 1: Fundamentals of Business & the Digital Economy (250) hours):

Introduces basic principles including ethical practices that drive a successful and productive environment.


Learning Hours

  • 80 hours through weekly instruction.
  • Each subject will have between 2 hours and 12 and a half instructional hours offered per week
  • up to 20 hours through a Digital Wednesday session which are typically a half day once every four weeks for each of your modules

: A learning journal documents student-learning experiences submitted at the culmination of the year-long studies.


Grading Criteria:


Careers in Accounting with 3rd- year top-up:

  • You are eligible to progress onto further Accounting and Business study and complete an 3rd (top-up - BA/BSC or Higher National Diploma equivalent) year.
