Program Overview
The New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology (Essentials) equips students with fundamental IT knowledge and skills for entry-level support roles. Through a blended learning approach, students cover hardware, networks, web design, databases, and software development. The program prepares students for further study in computing systems and provides additional Maths support for those who need it.

- Programming Foundations (HTCS4604): Teaches students how to write code and build simple software applications.
- Assessment may include assignments, presentations, exams, and practical projects.

Domestic/NZ students $3,400 (NZD) (Approximate fees only - includes GST but excludes the Compulsory Student Services Fee (CSSF) levy. Your final study costs depends on a number of factors including the courses you select to study. International students $12,688 (NZD)
Entry Requirements:
Domestic/NZ students:
- Be 16 years old by the time the programme starts
- A minimum of 4 years of secondary education
- Completed NCEA Level 1
- If English is not your first language, you will need one or more of the following:
- Have achieved NCEA Level 3 and New Zealand University entrance
- Have achieved at least one English proficiency outcome in the last two years
We also accept:
- New Zealand Certificate in Computing (User Fundamentals) (Level 2)
- New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Foundation User) (Level 2)
- New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3)
- New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3)

International students:
- Must meet the same requirements as domestic students.
- In addition, international students must have an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- For international students whose first language is not English, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall is required.
- Other equivalent English language tests may also be accepted.

- Applicants with relevant work experience may be considered for admission even if they do not meet the formal entry requirements.
