- The program is offered full-time for 16 weeks.

- Be at least 16 years old by the program start date.
- Have a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 2) or equivalent, or achieve an appropriate score on Unitec's Language Studies English Language Placement Test.
- International students may require a student visa.

- Students who successfully complete this program may be eligible to enter the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Applied) (Level 3) or other Unitec programs that require IELTS 5.0, including select Level 3 Unitec Certificates.
- International students who graduate from this program are NOT eligible for a post-study work visa.
