Fire & Safety Studies Diploma

This academic program builds on the Fire Officer Certificate Program or the Fire Prevention Officer Certificate and prepares you for more senior officer positions in the fire service.

Its higher-level academic credentials are required for officers to advance into more senior positions. It is designed to help officers distinguish themselves by providing the applied management and strategic knowledge and skills needed.

What You Need to Graduate

To receive your diploma, you must complete all the requirements within the program.

Program Format

Courses in this program are primarily offered online. The number of on-campus courses is dependent upon the student's first-year program.

The first year consists of courses in the Fire Officer Certificate or courses in the Fire Prevention Officer Certificate. Students with relevant education can apply for Advanced Standing or Recognition of Prior Learning.

A: Yes. International students should contact the JIBC Office of International Affairs to discuss their options and requirements to apply for and complete the program.

Q: Can I get credit for my relevant industry experience?

A: Yes. Based on other education that you have completed, apply for Advanced Standing for Year One of the diploma.
