This program focuses on strengthening your capacity, confidence and competencies to lead with accountability, influence and integrity in today’s complex environment.

Program Requirements
Six required courses plus two elective credits, and an assessment demonstrating achievement of the learning outcomes.
These courses are required to complete the certificate and are required before enrolment in the assessment. Full attendance is required. The recommended time to complete this program is two years. The maximum time to complete this program is four years.
The Assessment: Applied Leadership (LEAD-1559) is an electronic assessment.
Program Format
The program is 20 days of training (10.0 credits), comprised of 16 days of required courses and 4 days of electives followed by an assessment.
Courses can be taken individually or as part of the certificate.

Tuition for the program is approximately $5,200 (dependent upon choice of electives and course locations).

Textbooks & Supplies
Course manuals are supplied when you attend face to face classes. If additional books or other materials are required, you will be advised when you register for the program.
Admission Requirements
The courses and certificate are open to anyone. There are no formal admission requirements.

Program Changes
The Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership is being discontinued and a new Associate Certificate in Inclusive Leadership will be replacing it.

2. How to I determine what courses I have completed and what courses I still need to complete for program completion?
To see which courses you have completed:
- Log in to MyJIBC >Student Self-service >(Academics) >Unofficial Transcript to view the courses you have completed.
- To see which courses are required for the program go to the Program Details page.
- Compare the courses you have completed against the list of program requirements
3. I am a certificate student who is halfway through the Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership, and I won’t be able to complete the courses prior to June 1, 2026. What should I do?
If you can’t complete the Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership prior to the deadline, you can contact the program area by email by August 31, 2025 and ask to be withdrawn from the existing program and registered in the new Associate Certificate in Inclusive Leadership. Prior to September 1st there will be no cost to do this. After this time there will be a cost to enroll in the new program (currently $75).
Once enrolled, LEAD 1100 & LEAD 1101 can be applied to the new program until Aug 31, 2027. which means you must complete all program requirements for the Associate Certificate in Inclusive Leadership by that date.
All other courses in the program are new so you would need to complete all other program requirements.
If you have taken courses as part of Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership and want to receive credit for them, then you would need to complete the old certificate prior to June 1, 2026.
4. I have taken most of the courses in the Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership. How long do I have to complete the certificate?
You must complete all courses and submit your assessment by June 1st, 2026.
5. I have completed some of the courses for the Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership but I haven’t enrolled in the program. Should I enroll in the old certificate or in the new certificate?
Both programs are valued. We recommend you make your decision based on how many courses you have completed in the Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership, if you can complete the program by the deadline (June 1, 2026) and which program outcomes align with your learning goals. The new associate certificate in inclusive leadership is made up of new courses.
LEAD-1100 & LEAD-1101 can be applied towards the new program till August 31, 2027. You must complete all program requirements by that date should you choose to use these two courses towards the program.
6. Is the new certificate better than the old certificate?
All certificates are valuable credentials. Please see the differences between the certificates in question 1.
7. What dates do I need to be aware of?
- May 28, 2025:Deadline to enrolment in the Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership
- August 31, 2025 : Contact the Centre for Leadership by this date if you wish to enroll in the new Associate Certificate of Inclusive Leadership at no cost.
- June 1, 2025:The new Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership is open for enrollment.
- June 1, 2026 : Final deadline to complete all program requirements for the Associate Certificate in Applied Leadership, including the assessment.
