Program Overview
The University of New Haven's paramedicine program is designed to prepare students to become a new breed of first responder – one who holds dual certification as both a firefighter and as a paramedic. The program is offered in partnership with Hartford Healthcare and provides hands-on learning experiences, including clinical rotations and internships.

Program Objectives

- Clinical Rotations: More than 700 hours of clinical and internship experience through multiple models of EMS services, including hospital-based and fire-based
- Internships: Students complete internships treating 100 real patients under the supervision of an experienced paramedic as a preceptor
- Experiential Education: 100% of students will experience experiential education using high fidelity manikins in real life simulation centers
Program Cost

- Lab Fees: Used to support courses requiring specialized materials and/or a specialized learning environment
- Additional Costs: Students are responsible for the cost of uniforms, supplies (stethoscope), and books, as well as transportation to/from clinical and internship sites and any cost associated with meeting health/vaccination requirements
