Outline:
- Duration: 19 weeks full-time, including 2 holiday weeks.
- Weekly Learning:
- Class Time: 15 hours (in-person, online, and in-work learning)
- Industry Experience: 1-2 hours (supervised practicum)
- Study Time: 23 hours (independent study)

Entry Requirements:
Domestic Students:
- 40 credits of NCEA Level 1 or above (including 10 Literacy and Numeracy credits)
- OR Equivalent academic achievement
- OR On a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean.
- Completion of a Health Declaration Form (fill out Section A only).
- Declaration of any previous criminal convictions prior to admission confirmation and authorization for a background check.
- UCOL may conduct a safety check for those working with children under 16 years old.
International Students:
- All of the above requirements for domestic students.
- IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL).
- Additional NCEA equivalency if under 20 years of age.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
English is not your first language:
- IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL).
- Scores must be from a single IELTS Test Report Form within the preceding two years.
Te Reo Māori is not your first language:
- Same requirements as for English.
Under 20 years old and English is not your first language:
- Additional NCEA equivalency.
Additional Notes:
- Applicants may be required to wear appropriate exercise clothing suitable for a gymnasium environment.
- UCOL will conduct a safety check for those working with young people under 16 years old.
- Learners are required to inform UCOL of any pending charges or changes to their conviction status.
