Academy Barbering

Program Overview

The Academy Barbering Program at UCOL provides secondary school students with hands-on experience and foundational knowledge in barbering. Through blended learning and practical training, students develop skills in haircutting, shaving, and beard trimming, while also exploring the history and working environment of the industry. The program prepares students for further studies or entry-level positions in barbering, offering potential career paths as barbers, hairstylists, or salon managers.

• Application is arranged in partnership with your parents/caregivers and your school.
• Fill out the Academy Application Form.

Outline:

The program comprises 28 Credits across three modules:

• Unit Standard 10645 (Level 3):
Describe the development of barbering (3 Credits)
• Unit Standard 31946 (Level 3):
Demonstrate knowledge of skin and hair for barbering (5 Credits)
• Unit Standard 10646 (Level 2):
Apply initial barbering techniques (20 Credits)

This module covers the essential knowledge of skin and hair anatomy and physiology in the context of barbering.
• Unit Standard 10646:
This module provides hands-on training in fundamental barbering techniques, including haircutting and styling, shaving, and beard trimming.
