Program Overview


The New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) (Level 4) equips students with the skills and knowledge to excel in office administration roles. Through a combination of classroom instruction, work experience, and independent study, graduates develop technical and administrative abilities, enabling them to provide effective support, process data, and contribute to team success in diverse office environments.

Degree Overview:

  • Focuses on developing technical and administrative skills to improve performance and productivity.
  • Graduates are expected to demonstrate professional and ethical behavior, self-management skills, and the ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service.

  • Course Duration: 19 weeks per year (including 2 holiday weeks)

  • Class Time: 15.5 hours per week (in-person or online)
  • Work Experience/Simulation: 35 hours per week
  • Study Time: 18 hours per week (independent study)

Entry Requirements:


Domestic Students:


Standard Entry:

  • 40 credits at NCEA Level 1, including 10 Literacy credits and 10 Numeracy credits; or
  • Relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2 or above; or

International Students:

  • An IELTS score of 5.5 (general or academic) with no individual band lower than 5 from one test taken in the preceding two years; or
  • An equivalent described in NZQA Rules.

Language Proficiency Requirements:


Domestic Students:

  • Minimum NCEA Level 1 literacy credits.

International Students:

  • All learners are required to complete 35 hours of work experience in an office environment.
