The UCOL Academy Cafe Skills Programme is a Level 2 program offered at UCOL Manawatū in Palmerston North, UCOL Whanganui, and UCOL Wairarapa in Masterton. The program runs from the week of 12 February 2024 to the week ending 27 September 2024 and is held on Fridays from 9am to 3pm. The program focuses on developing skills for the hospitality industry, covering areas such as food safety, barista skills, customer service, commercial kitchens, food preparation, cooking, and baking.
Modules:
- Unit Standard 167 (Level 2) - Practise food safety methods in a food business under supervision.
- Unit Standard 13272 (Level 2) - Cook food items by baking.
- Unit Standard 14441 (Level 3) - Provide cafe counter service in a hospitality establishment.
- Unit Standard 17285 (Level 2) - Demonstrate knowledge of commercial espresso coffee equipment and prepare espresso beverages under supervision.
- Unit Standard 13281 (Level 2) - Prepare and present basic sandwiches for service
- Unit Standard 13283 (Level 2) - Prepare and present salads for service
