The UCOL Te Pūkenga Academy 2 Day New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works Programme focuses on equipping learners with the core skills and knowledge needed for a career in the infrastructure industry. Over a year, participants complete units towards a nationally recognised qualification and gain hands-on experience valued by employers. The programme covers various aspects of infrastructure works, including civil works, rural construction, surfacing operations, and underground utilities.
Structure:
The programme comprises 41 credits and consists of several modules, each focusing on specific skills and knowledge. These modules include:
- Unit Standard 9677 (Level 2): Participate in a team or group which has an objective.
- Unit Standard 12349 (Level 2): Demonstrate knowledge of time management.
- Unit Standard 17327 (Level 2): Apply communication skills on an infrastructure works site.
- Unit Standard 6475 (Level 2): Describe and complete work records for infrastructure works.
- Unit Standard 20868 (Level 2): Demonstrate knowledge of emergency response in the civil infrastructure industry.
- Unit Standard 23285 (Level 2): Use and care for hand tools used for infrastructure works (practical required).
- Unit Standard 6469 (Level 2): Maintain small machinery used on infrastructure works sites (practical required).
- Unit Standard 32138 (Level 2): Demonstrate knowledge of good work habits and safe working practices on an infrastructure worksite.
- Unit Standard 6477 (Level 2): Demonstrate knowledge of aggregates and mixes used on an infrastructure worksite.
- Unit Standard 17593 (Level 2): Apply safe work practices in the workplace.

The programme runs for two days a week, from 9 am to 3 pm, in various locations:
- Palmerston North: Mondays & Tuesdays
- Tararua: Mondays & Tuesdays
- Wairarapa: Mondays & Tuesdays, or Thursdays & Fridays
- Whanganui: Mondays & Tuesdays
- Levin: TBC
