Program Overview
The Social Transformation Graduate Certificate equips students with the knowledge and skills to become effective agents of social change. Through interdisciplinary research and analysis, students explore social, cultural, and political dimensions of transformation. The program prepares individuals for leadership roles in social movements, activism, community organizing, and other change-making initiatives. Graduates may pursue careers as community organizers, social justice consultants, or continue their education in law or graduate school.

Degree Overview:
This graduate certificate program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to become effective agents of social change. Through exploring theoretical frameworks and conducting interdisciplinary research, students learn to critically analyze social, cultural, and political dimensions of social transformation. The program prepares individuals to contribute as leaders and changemakers in their communities, particularly within the contexts of social movements, protest, law, social entrepreneurship, activism, and community organizing.

Required Core (3 credit hours):
- SST 501 Foundations of Social Transformation (3)
Electives (12 credit hours):
Students select 12 credit hours of electives in consultation with a faculty advisor.
Careers:
Graduates of the program may pursue careers as community organizers, youth and community advocates, community-based researchers, social justice consultants, or continue their education in law school, graduate school, or other professional programs.
Other:
- The program is designed for both graduate and postbaccalaureate students.
- Applicants must have a bachelor's or master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their last 60 credit hours or in a relevant master's program.
- The program is offered in person at the Tempe campus.
- The application deadlines are rolling for both fall and spring semesters.
