Transdisciplinary Transportation Studies (Graduate Certificate)

Program Description

The Transdisciplinary Transportation Studies certificate program is designed to provide graduate students and current and future transportation professionals with the opportunity to pursue a wide range of transportation-related issues from a multimodal, interdisciplinary perspective. The program builds upon existing ASU programs in various disciplines offered in five colleges and two campuses.

Degree Requirements

The program requires 16 credit hours, including the required applied project course (PUP 593).


  • Required Core (3 credit hours): PUP 564 Transportation Systems Professional Seminar (3)
  • Transportation Electives (9 credit hours):
    • Students take three credit hours from each category for a total of nine credit hours to fulfill the transportation elective requirement.
    • Electives can be taken from any school in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, from a college outside of The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, or from subject prefixes CEE, GIS, GPH, PAF, PUP, SOS.
  • Other Requirement (1 credit hour): CEE 591 Seminar: Interdisciplinary Transportation Seminar (1)
  • Culminating Experience (3 credit hours): PUP 593 Applied Project (3)

Admission Requirements

  • General University Admission Requirements: All students are required to meet general university admission requirements.
  • Applicant Eligibility: Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's or master's degree, in any field, from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum GPA: Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program, or applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in an applicable master's degree program.
