The Technical Communication graduate certificate program is designed to extend or build technical writing knowledge and skills, whether you are a degree-seeking or nondegree-seeking graduate student.

In the technical communication graduate certificate program, students learn how to produce and communicate technical information using traditional and digital technologies.

Students can complete two graduate certificate programs and combine them into a Master of Advanced Study degree, giving ultimate flexibility to build their own master’s degree.
Degree Requirements
18 credit hours
- Core Requirement (9 credit hours)
- TWC 501 Fundamentals of Technical Communication (3)
- Students choose two of the following courses:
- TWC 511 Principles of Visual Communication (3)
- TWC 521 Principles of Web Authoring (3)
- TWC 531 Principles of Technical Editing (3)
- Electives (9 credit hours)
- Students choose any 500-level TWC courses as their electives.
Admission Requirements
- General university admission requirements: All students are required to meet general university admission requirements.
- Applicants must have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program or a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in an applicable master's degree program.
- All applicants must submit:
- graduate admission application and application fee
- official transcripts
- proof of English proficiency
