Workskills Term 4: Preparing for Independence

Overview

Our Supported Learning courses are specifically designed for individuals with intellectual or learning disabilities. They are intended to support a successful transition from secondary school to tertiary education. Students can enroll in all four terms or each term individually.


Course Description

This course focuses on personal presentation and hygiene, making healthy choices, asking for help, and expressing wants and needs. Students will also identify responsibilities leading to greater independence, explore future study options, and determine their next steps after completing the course.


Eligibility

This offering is for year 11-13 students. A limited number of places are available for students who are no longer attending school.


Requirements

  • A minimum number of participants is required for this activity to proceed.
  • Students not currently in school must complete an enrolment form and provide verified ID (passport or birth certificate, sighted and verified by Ara admissions staff, a JP, a solicitor/lawyer, or a registrar/deputy registrar of the Courts).
  • A third-party authorisation form is recommended to enable communication with the student's caregiver or nominated person.
