Ara's Engineering Taster program offers year 11-13 students a day of interactive engineering activities, including Māori compass creation, plasma cutting, 3D printing, and more. This engineering taster program is designed for year 11, 12, and 13 students and offers a day of interactive activities relating to engineering. Participants can choose from six different options:
- Māori compass creation: Learn about Māori culture and navigation while building a traditional compass.
- Plasma cutting a Māori design: Use a plasma cutter to create a design based on Māori patterns.
- Testing a 3D printed boat: Design and test a 3D printed boat in the workshop.
- Soldering your own lights into a plastic Christmas tree: Learn basic soldering skills and create a festive decoration.
- Constructing a 3D printed catapult: Design and build your own catapult using 3D printing technology. The program aims to provide students with a taste of different engineering disciplines and encourage them to consider a career in this field.
