Module 1: Measurement and Algebra (CSCP305)
- This module covers mathematical skills relevant to the construction industry, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry and mensuration.
- Students learn how to apply these concepts to real-world construction problems, such as calculating materials quantities and site layouts.
Module 2: Skills for Academic Study (CSCP400)
- This module equips students with the necessary skills to succeed in tertiary study, such as effective research methods, critical thinking and academic writing.
- Students develop these skills through a combination of individual and group activities, assignments, and presentations.
Module 3: People & Learning Skills 4 (CSCP407)
- This module focuses on developing effective communication, teamwork and leadership skills, essential for successful careers in the construction industry.
- Students participate in workshops and simulations that provide opportunities to practice these skills in practical situations.
Module 4: Materials (CSCP408)
- This module explores the properties and applications of various construction materials, including timber, concrete, steel and masonry.
- Students gain an understanding of how to select the most appropriate material for specific construction purposes, considering factors such as strength, durability, cost and sustainability.
Module 5: Construction Documentation (DACD400)
- This module introduces the principles and methods of construction documentation, including drawing, specification writing, and tendering processes.

- Some of the courses are only available in Christchurch.
- Entry to the program requires 40 credits NCEA Level 2, including 10 Level 1 Literacy credits and 10 Level 1 Mathematics credits.

- 40 credits NCEA Level 2, including:
- 10 Level 1 Literacy credits
- 10 Level 1 Mathematics credits (with a strength in Algebra for the Engineering Pathway and Numeracy for other pathways)
- Important: Statistics and probability do not count towards this mathematics credits requirement.

Alternative Requirements:
- If you don't meet the Academic Requirements but can demonstrate equivalent skills for tertiary study gained through study, work and/or life experience, you may be able to gain alternative entry.
- Note: The number of courses you have to complete for this qualification may be reduced if you have relevant credits from previous study, or evidence of similar learning or experience in the workplace.
- Acceptable English proficiency outcomes include:
- IELTS - Overall score of 5.5 Academic (with minimum scores of 5.0 in Listening, 5.5 in Writing, 5.0 in Reading, and 5.0 in Speaking)
- Other tests or qualifications as listed in the Acceptable Alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Chart
- Note: If you are a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident, you do not need to provide additional evidence of English Language skills.
