Program Overview
UFV's Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree prepares students to critically examine obstacles individuals face —oppression, discrimination, or trauma— and to help people reach their full potential. Rooted in principles of social justice, equality, empowerment, and respect for diversity and inclusion, the program equips students for practice in a wide range of workplace settings.
Program Structure
- After completing 60 lower-level university credits
- Generalist or child welfare specialization option
- Integration of Indigenous worldviews to help students understand and work with local Indigenous communities
Learning Experience
- Small and hands-on classes
- Discussion and critical reflection with a close-knit group of peers
- Two supervised field placements with community agencies
