Career Outlook for Adult Educators
Adult educators teach in vocational or technical colleges, develop or deliver training for businesses or government agencies, facilitate workshops in the community or workplace, run recreation, literacy, or health programming, or work as life skills or employment coaches.
The Lower Mainland/Southwest region will account for the majority of adult educator job openings in BC over the next five years. According to B.C. Employment Outlook, a total of 6750 adult educator job openings are expected by 2025 throughout the province.
As the workplace relies increasingly on technology, the demand for adult educators who can deliver skills upgrading programs is rising. And so are opportunities to teach in private post-secondary training institutions that provide technical, vocational or language training to people preparing to enter the workforce.
Adult educators are in demand in all regions of the province, especially in speciality areas such as health programs, trades training and applied technology fields.
