Program Overview

  • First Year: Students complete a certificate in either Livestock Production or Horticulture Crop Production and Protection.
  • Second Year: Students develop additional expertise in their chosen area of practice, learn about sustainable holistic agricultural practices, and explore issues relating to on-farm food safety, quality, and security.
  • Hands-on Enterprise Project: Students develop a business plan for an agricultural venture, applying marketing, writing, and business skills.
  • Practicum: A final practicum provides students with the opportunity to gain work experience and enhance their employment prospects.

  • Farming Operations: Graduates may find employment in farming operations, agribusiness companies, pest management companies, greenhouses, nurseries, parks, and government agencies.

Transfer Options

  • Bachelor in Agricultural Science: Students who select the Horticulture option can transfer their credits towards a four-year Bachelor in Agricultural Science from UFV.
  • Bachelor of Business Administration for Agriculture Management: After gaining industry experience, graduates may complete a Bachelor of Business Administration for Agriculture Management to learn business management theories and practices and prepare for leadership roles in agribusiness or agricultural agencies.
