English Program Overview
The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) offers a comprehensive English program that fosters critical thinking, cultural awareness, and effective communication skills. The program is designed to provide students with a rich understanding of English literature, from Chaucer to contemporary fiction.
Program Options
UFV offers four English major options within its Bachelor of Arts program:
- English Literature
- English with a concentration in Creative Writing
- English with a concentration in Drama
- English with a concentration in Writing and Rhetoric
Additionally, UFV offers honours programs in both English and Creative Writing, as well as minor and extended minor options in English and Creative Writing.

Practical Experience
To gain practical experience in writing and editing, students can join the editorial board of Louden Singletree , UFV's student-run literary and visual arts magazine. Alternatively, they can contribute to the Cascade, UFV's student newspaper, or take on roles such as peer tutor, research writer, or social media guru for the Academic Success Centre. Optional paid work placements are also available through the UFV Co-operative Education program.
