Program Overview
Program Overview
The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) offers a ten-month certificate program in Culinary Arts. This program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the culinary industry.
Program Description
At UFV, students learn how to make the best out of their ingredients and master the art of kitchen management. They apply what they learn in the Rivers' Dining Room, under the supervision of highly qualified professional chefs. The program provides rigorous training necessary to perform in any kitchen, while also receiving the encouragement needed to follow their passion and develop their own set of specialties and tested recipes.
Career Outlook
The BC 2024 Labour Market Outlook lists bakers, chefs, and cooks in the top 25 in-demand jobs requiring college or apprenticeship training. To diversify employment opportunities, students may wish to combine their skills as a culinary artist with an Hospitality Event Planning certificate.
