Entrepreneurship and innovation are at the core of the 4th industrial revolution, and with the UK ranked 5th in the Global Innovation Index 2024, continuous innovation – both incremental and radical – is increasingly seen as essential to maintain competitive advantage and a prosperous economy.


As such studying these closely related subjects will give you a real insight into the way they are becoming increasingly critical to business and enterprise success. You will also be much better positioned to develop your own innovative ventures, either independently or in an existing organisation.

About this Course

What will I study?

If you join us at Level 5 of your study, the programme will provide learning opportunities via an innovation-based consultancy project which will enable you to apply and validate your learning and skills in real world settings whilst also developing the skills of design led innovation, project management and analytics.


If you join us at level 6, you will be able to undertake an applied research project focused on enterprise and innovation to enable you to apply and validate your learning and skills further in real world contexts. You will develop crucial skills in design thinking and innovation whilst also understanding the importance of building an innovative culture through an organisation.


You will also learn how to implement strategy and sources of funding for entrepreneurial. You will also spend a significant amount of time developing your own personal competence as a learner, leader and entrepreneur.


How will I be taught and assessed?

  • Lectures, interactive seminars and tutorials/workshops: 9 hours per week
  • Independent study: 31 hours per week
  • You will be assessed through coursework, essays, reports, presentations, portfolio and in-class tests.

If you pass with a minimum of a 2:2 and would like to continue your studies, you may be eligible to progress on to one of our postgraduate business degrees at the London Campus. These programmes include the opportunity for you to specialise in either:

  • Human Resource Management
  • International Management
  • Financial Management or Marketing Management as part of your Business Masters

For those wanting to experience study in a different city, you may also be eligible to progress on to one of our Masters programmes at our main campus in Newcastle.

Academic & English Requirements

Academic entry criteria English language requirements
International Year One (Level 4) Good High School Grades or equivalent IELTS 5.5 with no element less than 5.5
Year Two (Level 5) Level 4 qualification with a pass grade in a business and management-related field. Please note that applicants without formal qualifications yet with appropriate work experience are also encouraged to apply. IELTS 6.0 with no element less than 5.5 (or approved equivalent)
Year Three (Level 6) A HND/Foundation degree or equivalent.

Modules

International Year One (Level 4)

Students with good high school grades (or equivalent), joining on Level 4 will study our International Year One.


Year Two (Level 5)

Students holding a Level 4 qualification in a business and management-related field, can directly join the programme on the Year Two (Level 5).

Year Three (Level 6)

Students with HND merit standard or Foundation Degree in a related field can join the programme directly on Level 6 and top-up their qualification to an honours degree in one year.

Fees and Finance

Tuition Fee 2024/25

  • UK/Home students: £9,250 per annum
  • International students: £19,750 per annum

Tuition Fee 2025/26

  • UK/Home students: £9,535 per annum
  • International students: £20,950 per annum

Please note that your tuition fees do not include the cost of course books that you may choose to purchase, stationery, printing and photocopying, accommodation, living expenses, travel or any other extracurricular activities. As a Northumbria University London Campus student, you will have full access to our online digital library with over 400,000 e-books and 50,000 electronic journals.


The modules you will study do not require you to purchase additional textbooks although we recommend you allow an additional £250 for the duration of your studies should you choose to purchase any additional reading materials.
