Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


Generally:

  • An upper second-class Honours degree or its equivalent in a relevant subject, such as biology with a focus on molecular genetics, computing science, mathematics or another science with strong computer programming or molecular biology background.
  • Professional experience may be considered for applicants who do not meet this exact criteria.
  • Students from other backgrounds should check with the program director before applying.

Subject Specific Requirements:

The program accepts students from various academic backgrounds.


Relevant Degree Subjects:

  • All biology degrees with a significant molecular biology or genetics component.
  • Computing Science, Software engineering, IT.
  • Mathematics or Statistics ( with evidence of computer programming experience)
  • Other science subjects (with either evidence of experience in computer programming or strong background in molecular biology).

Non-relevant Degree Background:

  • If your degree falls under non-molecular life science or another non-relevant field, you can still inquire or apply.
  • The program has accepted students with other backgrounds in the past.

International Students

  • Applicants with academic qualifications below the standard requirements may consider contacting the University’s partner institution, Glasgow International College, which offers pre-Masters programs.

Language proficiency requirements

  • IELTS Academic Module (not general training): 6.5 overall with no score lower than 6.0
  • TOEFL (ibt, my best or at home), 79 minimum with at 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and at least 20 in writing.
  • Pearson PTE Academic: 59 with a minimum in all subtests
  • CAE/ CPE 176 overall, minimum of 169 on all individual components
  • Oxford English Test level 7, minimum level 6 on individual skills, reading and listening score must add up between 21-24
